WILD WOMEN: A SOLAR ETCHING PORTFOLIO

In its second portfolio Blue Sky Press celebrates the wild spirit of creative woman with a new printmaking process, solar plate etching.    The innovative nature of this technique resonates with the innovative nature of the artists selected to participate in this collective project.

The portfolio artists are Jean Anderson, Sherry Smith Bell, Nancy Caranica, a.k.a. K C Tiger, Ann Chernow, Cathy DeForest, Xenia Fedorchenko, Donna Fenstermaker, Lisa Jacobs, Lynn Klein, Joan Finton, Jill Landau, Pat Prosek, and Kim Vanderheiden.  Each artist has chosen a quotation to be included as an element in her work.    Themes range from childhood images, coming of age moments, to moments of joyous abandonment.

Judith Brodsky, Distinguished Professor of Visual Arts, Rutgers University and Founding Director, Rutgers Center for Innovative Print and Paper, writes provocatively in her introductory essay about the role of the creative woman.    The edition is limited to 20 portfolios printed with the solar plate process on German Etching paper.
